Ledgers, 1870-1899.

The ledgers of the Superintendent of Public Instruction record the settlement of the school fund with each county and also in-house expense accounts. Expense accounts cover salaries, contingency expenses, money returned from county superintendents, travel expenses for the Superintendent, office supplies, clerk and attorney fees, express freight, postage, porterage, telegrams, and expenses of the state Board of Education.
